exam and war

It was chilly morning when dad woke me up at 5:am and reminded me about the exam i had to write which i wasn't prepared at all, with half interest i woke up, my bro already getting ready for his BITSAT classes.Moving towards washroom, i saw my mom sleeping cozily and thought once my exams get over i would sleep upto 8 which i don't actually do coz whenever i know i have some holiday the next day i wake up as early as possible(good habits and me always go together....lol).As i reached the study table i saw two big words staring at me "Satellite Communication"(or rather me staring as to what to study.....) coz the day before the exam i spent entire day watching movies and thought i could complete 3 units with ease and when i opened the books that evening, from that time to next day morning i kept staring what to study.About half an hour i studied, then closed the books and went to the kitchen and started explaining my mom about satellites!!! which she would hear patiently and ask me how much i have prepared for the exam and my reply would be "3 units perfect" and "i think i can write atleast six out of eight answers that too perfectly and remaining two i would attempt"(the irony here is i still haven't prepared half of any unit but the confidence level in me is so high that my mom is convinced ).As soon as my dad comes home after droping my brother i would open the books again and would turn into an actor. Then i would take my bath and start for the War...i mean "exam". Waiting for the bus i would watch here and there to see faces dug deep into books but nevertheless i was brave and ready to overcome any challenge(i.e. any set in the exam). After boarding the bus i saw my friends discussing about answers and at that time one thought ran into my mind "fools" scared unnecessarily. Like a warrior i draw out my sword(....cell phone) and instantly messaging to other warriors(ravi, chala and others) askin "Mama how many units????"(even though i know the reply "not yet started ra....").The journey to college is a tiring one and half hours(45 kms) and during this time i had to study since all are studying which is raising my tension to 15% ,So i too start reading asking my friend(vamsi) to explain a whole unit which he does!!!.(poor fellow wasting his time for me) After studying for about 45 minutes i plug in my earphones and start enjoying "Linkin Park".My friend nearby is absolutely shocked with my strange behavior and argues i should study and my reply "lite ra....emi ekkatledu". I get a message from Bhanu stating "i will meet u at coll u gotta explain me a unit".So now i start reading seriously as the exam tension rise upto 45% coz i m nearing my college. I wait for Bhanu in the bus and we start preparing for the exam with a fire to score more atleast this time(which is quite impossible... and we know that). As the exam is at 2:pm we have ample of time(.....to study atleast a single unit) most of our friends come at 1:pm on bikes. So as we start studying, some more guys drop in(mostly CSE).So we study slowly on their request. After reading for an hour or so we check out the canteen and other buses asking(....begging would me more appropriate!) the girls(bookworms) to explain "THE FAQs" to which they would reluctantly agree with a "u don't even know this...." look on their faces. After wasting their time we again start studying(this time on our own) . 1:pm and tension level increases to 75% and we start sweating on a cold day(...now thats what i call "exam tension") and the other guys come with a worn out look on their faces and at 1:30 we start for the battle field(....exam hall) not knowing what to write but a shower of "good lucks" and "all the best ra mama" and "we r gonna rock th exam" while some talk like "nenu drop ra....." and " bhaiyam vestundi ra"(gettin scared) and "andaram drop peddham"(let us all funk!!!!!!). Now the exam tension is 100% and A brief look at the question paper and we start shivering more than usual(becoz of cold......wat did u think????) after looking at the paper we look at each others faces not knowing what to write but still bravely we start striking the enemy(...questions) with our mighty sword(....my Reynolds metallica pen).Few warriors leave the battle field within half an hour("drop" to be more precise) while others still fight bravely. finally after 2 1/2 hours i leave the hall handing over my answer sheet tied with three or more additionals( full of what answers i know not what he asked me to write!!!!).As i come out i see the faces of other warriors(....nerds) who have very less time and many answers to write(as most of my friends left the hall 30 minutes before brimming with confidence).A look at the friends question paper makes me think "Thank god i did'nt get this set or else......".Finally when i ask my friends how many answers he wrote and how many he knew(...you see we write what we know and not what he asks),he points his middle finger and says "exam f**ked" saying this he collects others question paper telling "It might be useful when i write the supplies ra...." with a "not so happy no so sad" look on his face. After the days tiring exam we go to the buses cursing the invigilator and the psycho external who doubts for almost everything. We sit back and relax in the bus and after 2 hours of sound sleep, reach home and as soon my mom asks how did the exam go ,instantaneously a reply comes without any hesitation "Supperb"

The green suitcase

"....while you are going to Pune take all your luggage in three bags, we have one bag, buy one more and the big green suitcase can hold most of your luggage", my dad told me this a week ago before i was going to pune to do my MBA. All this striked me one day in the third semester during the mid-terms as i was staring the green suitcase remembering about my parents, my brother, Hyderabad and how much i missed all of them. We purchased the suitcase while i was in my 9th grade may be January 2001 while my dad and mom planned for a vacation in Delhi and surroundings. My parents got their LTC and were very enthusiastic about the vacation. So a week before our travel, dad got the green suitcase, a big spacious one with wheels below and clips on the top and a locking system (which we never used till now). We were all geared up, when suddenly there was a major autorikshaw strike in Hyderabad and we had to catch the train early in the morning at 5:30. Finally on the day we got o...

A glimpse into my future

...........or atleast that's what I thought it was. It was again a dull Tuesday Morning and I was waiting to get X-rayed, I was getting a few tests done and one of the tests included this one. Just a few minutes ago I just had my blood samples collected in three different tubes at which time I asked the lady "Will it hurt a lot?" and I am very sure she laughed behind her surgical mask. After the blood samples, she pushed a small plastic container on the wooden desk towards me and asked me to get it filled with my watery waste and I promise there is nothing more humiliating than carrying the filled container all the way towards the end of hallway with people on either side. As I sat waiting to be called inside the X-ray Room, I heard a low dry cough and when I looked to my left there was an old man about 70 years or more, his skin was drooping, especially his cheeks. The drooping and the skin of his colour reminded me of a South Indian sweet dish. He was o...

Tuesdays...

"Many consider Tuesdays very unauspicious but to me, they were the most wonderful days in a week"- This was three years ago in my Engineering first year. Want to know why? coz i had my EDC Lab and someone very cute and pretty would sit next to me as my lab partner(..can't reveal her name). Hmm...as soon as Sunday would start three words would go round in my mind "day after tomorrow".After a long Monday(..i hate Mondays), Tuesdays would seem very short. Getting ready for college on the big day(every Tuesdays),I would start thinking about how to talk to her and make her smile. That day i wouldn't miss the college at any cost. Sitting in the bus i would be lost in thoughts, recollecting some funny quotes i would scribble in my lab notes trying to impress her. Entering into the class i would look for her and just her glance would make my day(..in fact, the whole week) with a big smile on my face i would go to the last bench and keep looking at her. ...
